Habitual: Creating Good Habits (iPhone Game)

  • Game Design for Good Habits
    A game aiming to help users create good habits in their life using behavioral psychology and social gaming mechanics. I'm currently working with a developer and business lead to test, iterate, design and release a beta version.
  • In 2011 I worked to design the user experience, gameplay and visual design of an iPhone game for creating good habits. This project was an exciting opportunity to use and evolve my knowledge of persuasive technology, user psychology, gestural interfaces and social games in order to help people improve their lives.

    I led the team through iterative cycles of brainstorming, prototyping and testing interactions with users. After several rounds, we began development while I worked on a visual design that reinforced a subtle, calm aesthetic inspired by zen motifs.

    Our team employed daily scrums and in-person working sessions to maintain efficient communication despite our lack of central location. We also regularly sought critique from experts in relevant topics, including an MMO designer, behavior-change psychology professor and social games producer for iOS devices.
