HSBC approached our team to digitally expand their golf division. Working alongside the Digitaria Sales team, I lead design of the mobile application HSBC Practice Green To Go. Utilizing geolocation and augmented reality, users could view their current location, how far to the nearest HSBC bank branch or "hole," current weather conditions, and par to that hole. They could then choose to challenge a friend, choose a club, and swing to that hole using finger swiping. Results would show distance of their shot and remaining distance to the hole. After approaching their ball's physical location, they could continue down the "course," leading to the HSBC hole.
When within putting distance, which would be projected onto sidewalks outside HSBC locations, the device's gyroscope would allow recreation of the putting motion as the device is held in both palms and swung back and forth. Augmented reality would show the surface below the user's ball as they watch their putter swing back and hit their ball toward the hole, watching it roll forward before hitting the bottom of the cup. The screen would display their score, allowing them the option to upload it to social media outlets and challenge friends to match their score and handicap.
