The poster series was originally designed for the Whittier Street Health Center's drop-in center called Project Me. People from the area could go to the drop-in center to find information about HIV and to get tested. Since a large number of the people in the area are recent immigrants to the U.S., I've used instruments that they would recognize from their home countries to get their attention. "Sexual silence" is a big issue among many of these people, so a lot of them grow up not knowing how to have safe sex or information about HIV. The posters are meant to let people know that HIV is something that should be talked about in order to prevent the spread of it.
