'8 Leguas Bajo Tierra' (8 Leagues Underground)
The basis of this series of illustrations is the Karma. Action and reaction of a moral malaise, foreign or own, watching from the redemption through suffering. For many ideologies this discomfort is observed from the sins and also from the place in which they live: hell.
Over time it was thought necessary to classify each of these malaises, generating symbolic and visual characteristics to achieve a clear identity that defines them. Every sin carries a demon.
We understand that these illnesses are our primary and puerile joys (the excitement of our minds).
There is an urgent need to control these impulses, to maintain a collective order. We are children trapped in our moral prison.
That is why in this series, the demons are portrayed as children, posing as if it were a "school picture": in uniform, holding a posture, but each with its own way of being reflected in their particular aspects, as happens today with any of us, demure sinners, we murmur our impulses in our privacy.
The technique is also related to the concept. The image comes from a totally black ink stain, constantly scratched revealing the substratum, as if the media suffered injuries.
