Art, Maps and Graphics generated with Adobe Illustrator

Dr. Karaoke
This was an idea I have rattling around my head for some time. Illustrator CS5 made it possible to put it into pixels.

Fortune Cookie
I sketched the real thing first to get a feel for the basic shapes best orientation. In Illustrator CS5 I started with two layers of triangles as my base before unleashing the ferocious powers of the shape builder tool to put it all together.

Iron Man
I started this project with a scanned pencil drawing. From there I experimented with Illustrator functions I do not normally utilize making maps and charts. This definitely pushed boundaries of my layer organization.

Logo Makeover
The original CRC logo was looking a bit rough around the edges and no reference to which font was used could be found. Thanks to dynamic abilities of the Shape Builder Tool in Illustrator CS5 it was much simpler to build from scratch. This newly minted version matches the original exactly but no fonts were used in its creation.

Weather Icons
As part of a cover redesign for the Lake County News-Sun I developed these weather forecast icons that could fit into the new modular design.

All-Lake County Baseball Team
For this page I overhauled and updated our twenty High School team logos and created the baseball field in Illustrator. The field cross hatch pattern was achieved by varying the transparency and overlap of two grids over the base shape and then applying a mask.

Fox River Walk Ggraphic
The top image was the original graphic concept highlighting the different phases for the new river walk project in Aurora, Illinois. Due to space constraints a smaller version was used with the story. Illustrator was used to construct the base image I then added the shading in Photoshop.

Community Mapping
This was first in a series maps covering many communities in Lake County, Illinois. They were large scale centerpieces for a broadsheet special section. Given the level of detail that needed to go into these maps several layer and sub-layer groups were key to maintaining my sanity and organization.
