This book was designed as a resource for students and entry-level designers. A book that tries to define what graphic design is to those of us who are already knee-deep. I hope that it explains and inspires, but more importantly I hope it is a useful resource. I have done my best to include everything that I wish I knew before I came to design school, and have organized the information in a way that a visual learner can understand. The words are brief and to the point, the imagery fairly minimal, but the message is clear. The title implies that it cannot be defined in a word. This is an overview of our field and what it means to be a graphic designer.
