Graffiti SeriesThe thought of preserving moments from my own life consumes me, and I have since grown an appreciation for also saving the memories of others. Because of this, in my photography I seek to find evidence of people, capturing what has been left behind.
Graffiti, a subject often covered by many artists, is an obvious indicator that someone has passed through a certain place. But contrary to the grand, more artistic statements that are normally documented, there exists a lesser noticed form that any and all kinds of people can create. By photographing these writings, while paying attention to the instruments used and the surfaces they are on, one can see the unique mark made by an individual and ponder their story. Whether it is a name, initial, or date, what is usually seen as defacing property is actually people embedding themselves into the history of where they have been.
