    "Sultan of Style"
  • I was first inspired by an old velvet poster I found while digging through some old childhood stuff. This is the outcome.
  • Step One: Inspiration. This is by far the coolest poster ever. Now that I am inspired, let's find a good picture to do my self portrait of.
  • Step Two: Picture Found. Who is that sexy man? Oh, it's me. Time to get a good line drawing so I can illustrate it.
  • Step Three: Line Drawing Complete. This is a good starting point to start vectorizing my face.
  • Step Four: Pen Tool. Start tracin' dem lines!
  • Step Five: Fill Color. Now that I've got a nice robust portrait of thyself it's time to add some custom type and make a poster.
  • Step Six: Name and Catch Phrase: Russell Pritchard, Sultan of Style. Every great designer needs a catch phrase. Mine, of course, is "Sultan of Style." Not only am I using alliteration to describe myself, but I am also using a fancy word, Sultan, to draw attention to my large vocabulary. Now I just need to spice this bad boy up using some gradients like in the initial poster I drew my inspiration from.
  • Step Seven: Bask in Glory. This personal project ended up taking way too long so I am calling it quits here. I never know when to end something that is incredibly experimental and has no boundaries, but here's my final.

    Sultan of Style out!
