Project title: Girls

“At a first glimpse, these image may seem to be a standard  example of children photography. Personally, I see the value of this work in conscious and intentional use of glamour aesthetics through which anxiety and oddity of the portrayed girls emerges. This anxiety results from the similarity  these girls share with mature women shown on the covers  of women's magazines. The anxiety becomes more disturbing, when we realize that the girls’ stylizations are innocent. The oddity or perhaps just our astonishment with how ordinary  those innocent faces and poses are, is strengthen by the effect of photographic simplicity: the meanings of ‘basic’ elements and means of photographic imagery.  This photo series is also, in my opinion, a commentary on modern visual culture, saturated with eroticism, yet longing for innocence.” Krzysztof J.
