Cinema 4D workshop - First 3D project ever!
The idea was to explore Cinema 4D as much as possible in a 2 day workshop with Linus Lundin and Fredrik Ekholm from Svep.
This was my first time opening Cinema 4D and I had the idea of modling a little old toy robot. Following some of the guys' advices I worked with some references that had the look I had in mind. These are two of the main references I had.
Next step was to define an approach to the type of modeling. Since this was the first time I was working with 3D I started modeling from primitives and only used primitives throughout the whole process. It took me about 5-6 hours of playing around and learning loads of C4D to have it looking they way I wanted.
- As a last step I thought about making it look old and demanaged, so I added some deformers to the model and found some interesting textures.
Playing with the textures was a very important part of the process I came to find out, and it really felt like it gave life to the little robot. When creating materials for the body I played around with reflections, bumps and displacement to get to the final look.
Lighting was also extremely important and I used a 3 point light setting as suggested and demonstrated to us by Linus and Fredrik.
- The final result you see here, and hopefully you'll like it.
Please get in touch for feedback and ideas! Always great to hear them!
