The Brief:
The university was approached to design an exhibition that could be easily transported around Britain and even abroad which demonstrates the stories of these survivors. This became a group project comprised of 2 Graphic, 2 Product & 2 Interior Design Students where a proposal of the design was to be presented to the projects leaders. A two-week time frame was set.
The Solution:
The team devised a concept in the form of a cube structure. The whole exhibition is easily packed away and simply transported by a palette base. This too allows for the structure to occupy even the smallest of spaces. The structures form is comprised of a variety of hollow wooden blocks that were designed to be representational of the integration of the survivors into Scottish culture. The graphics simply pulled up out of the cubes and held information about the lives and stories of each survivor. They also link with events of the time that were influencing their actions. Vinyl graphics were used to share smaller quotes across the boxes and perspex maps where used in the centre to demonstrate the journey of the people.
