For Immediate Release: August 2010
Tom Ross asked by Arun Gandhi (Grandson of Mahatma Gandhi) to design works for the Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute. All design fees donated to the education and housing of the children of Kolhapur.
Additionally, Arun Gandhi, grandson of the Mahatma, needed a series of images that they could license as revenue generators for their many efforts. Because Mahatma Gandhi is considered a National Treasure, the many images of him are considered public domain and/or the property of the Indian government. Therefore, I asked Arun for any and all personal photos he owned of him and his grandfather that have not been released. From this handful of photographs I produced a variety images that can be built upon and used for the purpose of licensing.
As a great admirer of Mahatma Gandhi, it is a sincere honor to be able to work with his descendants and their efforts to house, care for and educate impoverished children in India and around the world.
