Responding to a call out for all talented designers wanting to work for 3 months on the next big video game caught my attention while freelancing in London. Sending an email and link to my work proved just the ticket to catch the eye of Creative Director David Hicks who has a background in UI design for film and games. After spending a few hours talking to David in person and apparently trying to talk my way out of a job by saying I dont have any game experience David decided he liked my designs to much not work together. From the start it was such a intriguing project with laying out a design language that represented an alien race, the Helghast. Bouncing ideas back and forth between the two of us our job was to find a style that would fit to the Helghast world and fill all the screens and UI that would appear in the game. We had super close relations with Guerrilla Games who were fantastic to work with. Once we were satisfied with our designs we brought them into AE from Illustrator to do test animations. This was to show Guerrilla Games how we envisioned the animation looking which was an extention of our design style.
