New Normal
GOOD Maker: The ICRW HIV/AIDS Infographic Challenge
I was struck by the fact that, despite the advances of modern day medicine, young women in developing countries are still vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. And, the spread of the infection can not be stopped by medicine alone. HIV continues to spread because of cultural, social and economic norms in developing worlds. For example, it's just as normal for a 16 year-old girl to sell sex in Africa as it is for you to go to the grocery store.

The New Normal infographic idea brings to light the realities of the culture, social and economic norms through iconic American advertisements. The images are meant to make you think twice about what is acceptable as normal, and to inspire the creation of a new normal for the lives of young women in developing countries.

The images below are a work in progress.
