"GOLEM"

Series of 7 digital photographs. 2005. Steinfeld, Germany In 1992, using an old VHS video camera I made a film of myself walking through a forest that had many connotations regarding my personal life. Only in the year 2004 (12 years later) I played the film on a TV monitor and started taking random pictures of the TV screen. Then the images were worked in 2005 on the computer adding texts from a novel by Gustav Meyrinck written in 1913 "Der Golem".
Somehow, time and narrative linearity tend to be subverted in this work.
They are images of a computer, taken by a photo camera, from a TV screen, from a VHS movie, reflecting my view. The texts add a metaphysical dimension to the work.
The whole series was exhibited in an old Closter in the Eiffel (Steinfeld), in Germany in2005.
- "Das ganze Leben ist nichts anderes als formgeworden Fragen, die den Keim der Antwort in sich tragen". (The whole life is not but pre-formed questions, which carry the germ of the answer itself). Digital photography 70cm. x 46cm.
- "Es gibt nur ein wahres Wachsein, und das ist das, dem Du dich jetzt nährest". (There is only one true wakefulness, and this is the one your are now aproaching). Digital photography 70cm. x 46cm.
- "Jedes Ding auf Erden ist nichts als ein ewiges Symbol in Staub gekleidet". (Everyting on earth is nothing but an eternal symbol dressed in dust). Digital photography 70cm. x 46cm.
- "Sie fahren dahin wie ein Strom und sind wie ein Schlaf". (They go along like a flow, and are like a dream). Digital photography 70cm. x 46cm.
