  •  Functional Art
  • Art with a purpose and YARD art projects
  •  During my four years of high school in Jackson, Wyoming I had the pleasure to experience a class called YARD Art, short for Young Artists Revolutionary Design. The purpose of the class was to experiment in mediums that students don't usually get to try out in class, such as welding, metalwork, woodwork, glasswork, and others. One of the fundamental theories of YARD Art was the creation of art with a function, things thad had a use beyond appearance, and could be useful to their owners as well as being visually stimulating.
  • Title: Kayak Chair
    Medium: Mixed Media

This piece was done from recycled kayaks that I cut up and welded back together to form a sturdy, comfortable chair.
  • Title: Cagelight I
    Medium: Mixed Media

This piece was the first of two lamps made from elk skulls that I cleaned, carved, spray painted, and then installed lightbulbs and a hanging system.
  •  Title: Cagelight II
    Medium: Mixed Media

This piece was the second of two lamps made from elk skulls that I cleaned, carved, spray painted, and then installed lightbulbs and a hanging system.
  • Title: A Study in Fuzzy
    Media: Mixed Media

This piece was done by cutting off the head of a stuffed bear, running a wire through its body, and attaching a bulb and lampshade in place of the head before resewing the cut places.
