From Montmartre to Pigalle

From Montmartre to Pigalle
Paris 18
I spent more than 8 years living in Paris, with its reputation of most beautiful city in the world, magnificent whore, garlanted with lanterns. As far as I remember, I have always been in love with Montmartre. In the one hand because it is a beautiful place. In the other hand because when I was bored of Paris, its congested subway, its crowded streets, its overpopulated supermarkets, coming to Montmartre was a reconciliation. In Montmartre, the Parisian is not a Parisian anymore, he becomes a tourist surrounded by tourists. He can escape for a while from its condition.
About Pigalle, this is a different story. I love Pigalle during the night, when all those provocative lights blink over the streets, in a funny and sordid way. Where the tourist and the procurer walk together, the first dreaming of clap and outdated debauchery, the second just being like a simple grocer.
