Fremddesign – A Design Report

»How do people on the other side of the world live, move, orientate themselves, communicate and create? How do designers, artists and students work and where do they get their inspiration from?»
For 4 and a half month these questions were the basis of a huge research about design and creativity in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and China.

From 2nd of January till 12th of May 2011 metropolises like Sydney, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hongkong, and Beijing were visited as well as small villages, outskirts and outbacks. I met more than 25 designers, directors and artists like Chris Lee (The Asylum), Jackson Tan (Phunkstudio), Wayne Haag (Ankaris), Chris Ng (IDN Magazine). Furthermore I talked to street artists, buskers and creative people who try to survive and ease their daily life by coming up with new ideas.

The book »Fremddesign« is the result of the gained experiences. It gives an authentic insight into the different kinds of living as well as into the local design scenes on 500 pages with over 1000 photographs.
