The brief - to design a 34cm Electric grass collecting lawn mower with the Flymo brand heritage. The outcome - a well liked, good performing and cost effective product which satisfied the brand values.

The direction sketch which defined the overall side profile rake of the mower

Early colour balance sketches to get a feel of the expression and to capture the dynamic and organic Flymo form language that is evident on all their products.

Half scale foam model development. I developed two concept models from sketches with small variations, for example a front carry handle.

sometimes a fast section is required to chat through how you really make something. I've included these because it's a good example of how a decent design for manufacture conversation can progress with a 20 second sketch section. We draw these constantly, all day long.

Final product has sold in excess of 100,000 units through retail outlets in the UK. It was nominated for a GLEE best new product garden award in 2009 when it was launched.
