Accordingto the brief we had to produce any product which could be successfully sold inRespublica shop during spring-summer season. My solution was to design kites, because kiting is a good way to spend time in countryside or park at summer, for person of any age, sex or temperament.
The choiceof illustrations was dictated by shapes of kites:
Rokakku —is a traditional Japanese kite shape, invented in ancient times. Theillustration was chosen according to this historical fact. I pictured stork, flying out of water, a traditional subject for ancient Japanese art.
Kite in theshape of bird — withstylized Aztec illustration. Creature depicted on this kite is the main Aztecgod Quetzalcoatl; half-bird, half-snake with a human face.
Square kite —– with geometrical bird, refers to Bulgarian art. I decided to place thisillustration at the square kite because its symmetrical shape underlinespatterns and geometry of bird on it.
All shapesI used in my project are traditional, invented ages ago and quite simple toproduce even for novice.
