Kristin Kiser of Black Kite Coffee approached me about a logo for their newest coffee lovers program. She needed a logo for promotional materials and as an after-production mark on monthly vintage travel posters designed by local artist Steve Mockensturm. Each month Steve finds inspiration in the Bean of the Month's origin country or region and designs one window-sized silk screen poster to create awareness and interest in that month's featured bean.
We knew from the beginning that it was important to emphasize and support the ideas of travel, authenticity and the exotic. It became immediately obvious that the mark should mimic the casual permanence of passport country stamps. Passport stamps also carry a weight of trustworthiness and legitimacy.
