Final Collection Porfolio

This is a selection of my final collection portfolio pages where I feel my craftsmanship can be appreciated - although they are only a glimpse of all I have done and can do.

The inspiration of this collection came from looking at Martha Grahams work and contemporary dance, which incorporates both body and movement. The research was quite diverse from looking at historic fashion reference of Martha's period "America in 1920", fine art performers, choreographers work to contemporary dance companies of today.

Squares play a significant role in the creative development of the collection. The idea comes from the way Laura Dean a choreographer used to plan her choreographies (image above). The stitching was laid out as to create geometric and sharp lines, evident in the side stitches coming to the front panels, or twisted collars and geometric lapels. At the same time laser cutting organza and chiffon squares have been used to embellish this collection.
