Just recently, designer and design eventologist Brian Tenorio asked us, a few young illustrators to take part in his exhibition called Philippine Brand Ambassadors. Its an illustration exhibition featuring Filipino international personalities in design, media, fashion, literature, sports etc.
I was tasked to do Miguel Syjuco and 5 models, actors in fashion and media. The pieces were large and overwhelming almost 4ft x 6ft considering some illustrators did the originals at around 8 inches only. :)
For the 5 models piece i was inspired by Bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights" and really thought that viewers could actually find it interesting and hopefully find inspiration from it. But i guess it was too much for the public and thus it was edited to make it more PG.
The 2nd piece of Miguel Syjuco on the other hand was inspired by portraits of our National Filipino hero, Jose Rizal. The parraelism was predictable since both were writers, stationed outside the country for a time and written pieces on the socio political nature. Alas this too was edited, giving up the exposed jaw since it was too macabre for the public.
All is well the edited pieces might have not looked on how i envisioned it but they still good, i think. View them in person! The exhibit will be touring around local Ayala Malls here.
