Far From Fear e.V. is a non-profit organisation whose mission it is
to help animals in need, especially focusing on spanish greyhounds. This calendar is documenting the journey of a few individual dogs that
have been fortunate enough to be saved from misery – backed with a
great story, fine design and some very spectacular photography this
calendar rises to show the beauty and elegance of these wonderful
animals.
Conceptually this project is about an idea that goes beyond what is
commonly known about and expected from any usual image-calendar. Instead of the standard combination of well set typography
complemented by ‚safe‘ photography, this calendar rather tells a short
but interesting story - and aims at conveying this concept in a
graphically excellent matter.
The extensive information a calendar carries is translated into a
compass – a supplementing map is additionally showing hints on the
origin, the journey and the new home of the specific animal, thus both
together making it a comprehensive navigational tool as well. Compass and map are directly integrated with the photography: a calm
area with a shallow depth of field or a quiet area within the image
structure are offering space to do so – without disturbing the image and
being simultaneously visible and legible.
