- FF Brokenscript is a small blackletter series designed by Just van Rossum. One of the first blackletters in the FontFont library, this design takes a lot of cues from the very early textura writing style. The letterforms have been somewhat modernized, though, especially the uppercase. This series feels very contemporary and cool, rather than medieval and morbid.
All in all, there are four fonts in this series. Van Rossum drew two families: FF Brokenscript and FF Brokenscript Rough. Each family includes a regular and a condensed version.
- Just van Rossum studied Graphic and Typographic Design at the Royal Academy for Fine and Applied Arts in The Hague, Holland. Van Rossum started to collaborate with Erik van Blokland under the name LetTeRror in Berlin, while working at MetaDesign, Erik Spiekermann's design studio. After experimenting with computer programming in connection to type design, they came up with FF Beowolf, the first typeface with a mind of its own. It was released by FontShop in May, 1990. After stints at several places in the world, including David Berlow's FontBureau, but not Adobe, van Rossum settled in the Hague as independent designers, working together separately with Erik van Blokland.More FontFonts by Just van Rossum:
