Feed Duisburg is an installation on the lawns in front of the Mercator hall, the place where the performances of the Duisburg Philharmonics take place. The members of the philharmonic orchestra will be represented by a whole bunch of strings, the instrument which people most likely combine with classical music and orchestras. The installation is made of cast metal violin. viewed from the air, their order looks like two huge footprints. Since heavy objects leave an impression on the lawn, is the slogan of the installation is "Classical music leaves impressions". This effect only appears when the heavy violins are taken away. So people can buy the violins off the grass and financially support the philharmonic orchestra. The title Feed Duisburg is a wordplay between feed and feet, because both apply to the project. The bought violins show interest in art and culture, and should be exposed by the buyers.
