  • Explorer 320        Plantronics, 2006
  • The Plantronics Explorer 320 was one of the early, top-selling bluetooth headsets on the market. Designed by Joe Yang, Senior Industrial Designer, its lines and CMF conveyed a simple elegance.
  • Plantronics, as a tenured manufacturer of headsets for the call center industry, prides itself in the comfort of its wearable devices. I worked with Joe and Diane Elabidi, Director of Human Factors on the ergonomics of the ear interface for fit and comfort. As well, I collaborated with Jeff Stram, Senior Mechanical Engineer on designing the ear loop hinge mechanism.
  • I worked with the design team on refining the Call Answer End button and surrounding bezel geometry to improve tactile feedback. The bezel also serves to protect the button and PCBA from damage if dropped onto concrete.
  • All future generations of the Explorer headset borrowed earbud and ear loop geometry from the original Explorer headset. After millions sold, it's a testimony of proven fit and comfort across a spectrum of ear sizes.
