This project began as an illustration I did to visually expresses the proverb from which it gets its name: "Good and Quickly seldom meet." I did this by hand using graphite and ink on a 17"x20" surface, and then scanned it and digitally output it at 45"x60" using an Epson 2400 roll printer.
Later I wanted to apply the illustration to a context, so I designed an album cover for one of my favorite musicians, Esperanza Spalding. After seeing her at the Newport Jazz Festival, I was struck by her staggering stage presence, perfect pitch, versatility of style, and her sick sense of style.
