A visit to the Miguel Bombarda Mental Asylum inspired me to question
the concept of alienation. Is it exclusive to a mental patient? Alienation exists in the urban space, where society forces behaviour patterns to become uniform.
One becomes isolated within himself.
The mental and physical space contradict each other.
The installation is based on the photographic record of places where these contradictions might happen. A person walks through the physical world completely absorbed in their own thoughts, creating a dichotomy between both.
The poem by Al Berto reflects these concerns.
