Once home to such animals as bears, lions, chimps, wild dogs, lemurs, birds, and various reptiles, the Tygerberg Zoo near Cape Town closed its gates for the last time in 2012. The zoo had struggled to stay open while visitor numbers dwindled over the past couple of years. The property was eventually sold and the animals were relocated to other parks and sanctuaries. These photographs show the empty zoo before the cages and enclosures were fully dismantled and removed.
