This project is near and dear to my heart for many reasons. As an eating disorder awareness activits, I strive to help others in recovery overcome their struggles. This kit was many years in the making. Many of the tools have been tried by myself during my own recovery process. Now that I am happy and healthy, I feel an urge to help others get through the process. I made this kit to make it easier for them to achieve full recovery.
The kit includes:
- "Affirmations From Abroad", a collection of affirmations I received via youtube, facebook, and other social media websites.
- Daily Affirmation Sticky Notes. The user can write a daily goal/phrase/motivational statement that helps give them that extra- ummpfhh- to get through the day.
- Distorted Thought Flashcards. This allows the user to recognize bad thought patterns and also gives the user space to write their own usual bad thoughts, categorized so they can learn from them.
- The Helpful Scale. This idea came through my own recovery. I created a scale from 1 (good day) to 10 (worst day ever). Each number on the scale is an envelope in which the user can place smaller cards in that they have written an activity to help them make their day better. Each mood change, the user can return to this scale and pick out a card from the number envelope that pertains to their mood/anxiety level/eating disordered thoughts.
