Concept
Every time I go to Ellis Square, I see how much fun the children are having there. They run through the fountain, play, and laugh without a care in the world. Something as simple as watching children play has truly made me realize how important it is to take a step back and appreciate life for what it is.

Because I enjoy Ellis Square so much, I decided it would be great to document the different emotions of various children there. With the permission of their parents, I spent an entire afternoon taking hundreds of photos. The most amazing part of my time there was that not a single child posed for a picture. All of the pictures were spontaneous and captured a wide range of expressions. I did not tell them to smile or turn their heads a certain way; instead, I ran around with them, trying to capture all the excitement and happiness that I was experiencing.

When I went back to look at the photos, I realized I could teach others something through them. My concept for this book revolves around just that. These un-staged images capture the beauty of moments in time. They capture the happiness, curiosity, and imagination of children. I want to show people that children have a unique ability of teaching us things that are truly more important than any of the things we worry about on a daily basis, the things that we believe to be important. This book serves as a reminder to slow down and enjoy each moment, and to release our worries so that we too can be truly happy.
