Artist Photographer Eija Mäkivuoti
The Helsinki-based artist photographer Eija Mäkivuoti works with long-term photo documentary projects. She also photographs performing arts such as music and performance art. She works as a photographer in a variety of interdisciplinary art projects and artist groups, such as mikroPaliskunta and the Oblivia performance company.
Mäkivuoti holds a degree in photography from the Lahti Design Institute, and she has previously also trained as a visual artist. She is a member of the Finnish Union of Artist Photographers.
She is available for press shootings (live performance & events), tour documentaries, photo documentaries or other kinds of photographic work on commission.

- Eija Mäkivuoti has been working with the Helsink-based international performance company Oblivia since 2003. Along the years their collaboration has evolved, and today she is making Oblivia's promotional photographs and documenting the live performances. They have also made a photography exhibition together as part of the performance project Entertainment Island. She also coordinates Oblivia's new website, made to launch the new, five-year-project, Museum of Postmodern Art. | www.oblivia.fi
Eija Mäkivuoti has been working on and off as a freelance photographer for the Finnish Metal Magazine Inferno (since 2007), Allmetalfest.com festival site (since 2011) and Finnish webmedia Imperiumi.net (since 2011). She also works on commission for different employers within the cultural field.

Long-term photo projects
Travel, explorations to contemporary cultures, both in Finland and abroad, and intimate encounters with
people, (sub)cultures and -communities are the main themes in her work. Interdisciplinary and co-operative
working methods are important ingredients in her artistic work.

A photo documentary about a Faroese metal band 2008-2010
A photo documentary about and made together with the Faroese metal band SIC. I am portraying the everyday life of the band on the Faroe Islands. To these images there are also intertwined more outstanding circumstances from the band's tour in Europe and from other musical scenes.

On the road with bands
- Ferðin til Heljar 2011
Photo documentary of Hamferð's and Skálmöld's concert tour in July 2011. The first week were spent in Iceland with gigs in Reykjavík, Húsavík and at the Eistnaflug festival, while the second week were spent in The Faroe Islands with gigs in Tvøroyri, Tórshavn and at G! Festival. Made on commission for Hamferð. Photo reportage published in the Finnish Metal Magazine Inferno, issue #91, 2011 and as an online gallery. Next project is to make an photo exhibition of the project in the summer of 2013.
