Education Not Deportation: Support the D.R.E.A.M. Act
- DREAM Act MessagingOur immigration system is broken, and DREAMers want to fix it. This is a campaign targeted to Law students at Washington University in St. Louis to raise awareness about the DREAM (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) Act. After doing research and talking to DREAMers, the ultimate fear they shared was being jailed and deported from a country they called home.
I used the iconic American meme of Monopoly and drew upon the nostalgic visual vocabulary of the Chance, Go to Jail Card card to help American citizens empathize with the "chance" situation that Dreamers find themselves in.
I applied this image to cards, giving Mr. Money Banks a graduation cap and diploma. I placed the cards in tables at the Law School Library for students to look at when studying. As a second application, I chose a poster with tear-off tabs to help spread the word.
