Introduction to the Project:
Ecologger is a global experiment to measure in realtime the everyday power consumption of computers at home and in the work place.
Computing creates around 2% of the world carbon dioxide emissions, comparable to the aviation industry. An average PC wastes around half of the power it uses, it is estimated 90% of computers have power management disabled.
Ecologger is designed to promote behavioural change for users and manufacturers, to help make a greener more sustainable computing world. I approached this project in a way where I first decided what would be needed for people to be interested in reducing their computers power usage.
During my initial research I realised that If people did download this programme and started to lower their usage, they would inevitably start saving money.
Who wouldnt want to save some money, whilst also saving the environment for the future?
