Quick Arabic calligraphy study, the word reads "Ard" which means "Earth." There is an absence of a diacritic (the hamza) and it was left out for aesthetic reasons.
Played with the form quickly to make it read "Nar" which means "Fire" in Arabic. Then I just meshed them two together and made an emblem of sorts:
