ESPN THE MAGAZINE
ESPN the Magazine contacted me to photograph six female athletes, all of them leaders in their respective sports. Within a couple of days of the call I was on a plane to Colorado, followed by stops in Tampa Bay, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Boston and Atlanta. I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing boxer Queen Underwood, golfer Brittany Lincicome, and softball pitcher Jolene Henderson; as well as Olympic athletes Angel McCoughtry (gold medal, basketball), Lauren Cheney (gold medal, soccer), and sprinter Allyson Felix, who won 3 gold medals in 2012 for the 200m sprint, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay.
Each of the women displayed a tenacity and competitiveness that made it easy to see how they've risen to the tops of their fields of play. I'm grateful to all of them for taking time out of their intense training schedules to hang out in front of my camera.
