After the huge success in Britain with the launch of her debut album ‘Lights’ -#1 on the U.K. album chart, 4 hit singles, and a BRIT Award- the winner of the BBC Sound of 2010 Award, singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding, was full of light and ready to conquer once again all the audiences with a tour through North America.
Beginning on March at the SXSW Festival, and closing at The Music Box in April, the ‘Ellie Goulding Lights US Tour 2011’ pretended to captivate all her fans live, with her well known style of electro-folk-pop sound.
In a way to promote her ever growing career with this mayor event, the Official Tour Poster was created and designed for the artist. Reflecting Ellie’s main style, and keeping the essence of the album’s artwork, the poster tried to incorporate all the elements into a very singular piece of art.
The Creative Process & Graphic Resolution
The primarily objective was to create an artwork which could be easily associated with the album title ‘Lights’ and also the release of its Special Edition ‘Bright Lights’. The idea was developed focusing mainly under the light theme, but also including other two strong concepts: the spirit of a live performance, and the atmosphere around us at the airports.
The different tones, the action on the scene, the flashes, the motion, all evoke the sensation of being enjoying Ellie playing live, and the poster captures the energy of her music: revitalizing, uplifting, and ever changing.
The final result, an attractive, catching and more than bright poster.
