The theme of the project involves the construction of asustainable building, in which aspects of technology and design shrewdnessexpress the union between good architecture and bio-architecture. The projectarea is located in a central area of Milan and it is an interstitial spacebetween two buildings. During the visit of the site we saw the problems of thearea and from there the first ideas were born. The project should take accountof sustainability aspects such as natural ventilation, control of sunlight,water recycling and use of renewable materials. From these studies has resultedthe four-story building, featuring a ground floor lobby of passage thatconnects the street, public area within the block, redesigned as a semi publicpark. Inside the accommodation is extremely flexible, with moveable walls thatallow for variable spaces. This is made possible by the adoption of a perimetersteel structure. The study of the facades, the road and the inner one, led tothe choice of different construction systems. Towards the road with aventilated wooden brise-soleil, internal to the park lodges, coupled to theblock stairs / elevator surrounded by a vertical garden. The roof is green onwhich are placed solar panels and a room where houses collect water of theplants. The materials have been refined so that they can be found nearby andthey are as sustainable as possible, such as panels, insulation made fromrecycled paper. The result is a building with a completely new language and aconstruction system that makes it self as part of the thick curtain building inMilan.
