East Meets West
Deus Fruit Packaging

The challenge for this project was to package fruit for a brand that doesn’t usually sell fruit. The brand chosen was Deus EX Machina. Deus is renowned for its unexpected ‘spur of the moment’ products, it has developed and produced merchandise as an outcome of this and has proved to be very successful. With this in mind the next question is what’s next for Deus? The proposal for this brief is a healthier alternative snack to fill the shelves of the Deus café. There is a need for the company to produce an original line of products that further reinforces the labels known style of being quirky spontaneous.
Furthermore with Deus’ uprising brand, the product will serve as a way to build a connection to it’s store in Bali and Australia, a way of bringing the two cultures up to date with what the other is doing and a reminder to both new and old consumers to who Deus is by embodying the brands personality.
The personality of the product will encompass the contrasting cultural duality of Deus. It has Visual elements from both Eastern and Western cultures, highlighting the cultures styles in terms of art and traditions (e.g colour schemes, design elements of Deus from both cultures, the use of hangs when eating fruits).
The Product also further explores deeper forms of dualities found in Deus incorporating them into the look and feel of the product, through the use of a neat, organized, typographical structure whilst maintaining the free flowing forms of illustrative art.
