EASI #1 (2009)

From September 2007 until July 2008 I enrolled myself in a discipline that aimed providing an internship in one of the University's activities. I chose EASI. It was a complicated and demanding task: to integrate the team that would develop and launch the #1 of the magazine from the department of Som e Imagem da Escola das Artes da Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Sound and Image Department of the School of Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University).

But this task was undoubtedly rewarding. In this academic year was possible to work on different tasks, from the design of the magazine, research work, establishing new contacts and even to the video displayed on the launch day (on March 2009).

That's the video I'm about to show. It was made with the editor in chief Alexandra Serapicos and with a colleague of mine, Francisco Lobo.

It's a movie about references, which was the theme of this magazine number, made to illustrate the magazine cover. The cover contains an amazing collection of picture pairs in a piece called Diferença e Repetição (Difference and Repetition). About that piece, it is possible to read in the Editorial Text:

Repetição, inspiração, homenagem e apropriação são aqui as palavras-chave, qualquer delas ajustada ao titulo que lhe demos e também nós apropriámos. Cinema, fotografia, pintura e escultura estão maioritariamente presentes. Propõem-se 104 duetos. Alguns certos, outros possíveis, outros ainda, seguramente, imaginados por nós.
