This was a very enjoyable commission, quite basic in it’s execution but the choice of subject would easily take up a sketchbook full of hand drawn studies. The level of detail on the facade of the Milan Cathedral is breathtaking. It’s supposed to be the fourth largest cathedral in the world, taking nearly six centuries to fully complete. It was another opportunity to set up the camera and try to capture some of the creative process… this time with only a single sheet of paper and the wandering pencil marks. I finished off this classic looking sketch with a crisp aluminium  frame, leaving lots of white border space to offset the busy line detail at the centre.
