Animation is an extension of our imagination, by animating our ideas we give them a space to live in and turn them it into facts. On a technical level animation is a series of stills; motion does not exist within the images. It is actually the human eye that creates the notion of motion.
The beauty of animation is how the audience is able to give it life; where lines on a screen turn into characters. The audience projects themselves, into the world of the animation, suspending reality for a moment in time. The defining moment is when you believe these characters have motive, when in truth they don’t exists.
The story is a metaphor of escape into animation, and reflects the disbelief and the suspension of reality. The narrative is based on the common experience of stress. The character stays up late one-night in hopes of finishing all his work, but in the process learns that he has brought stress upon himself.
