I was recently on assignment for Los Angeles Magazine (article forthcoming, stay tuned) at the 2012 graduation of Dorsey High in Los Angeles. This is one of those troubled LA high schools where less than 50% of the students graduate. Well, when less than 50% of the students graduate, the ones that do get to stand up in front of their families in their robes are filled with a deep kind of joy. So once I had finished the assignment I had been sent down there for I couldn’t help but to stay and witness the pride and excitement that was all around me.
