  • I was approached by El Malpensante magazine (Colombia) to illustrate a series of letters written by the Marquis de Sade to both his wife and mother-in-law.
Conceived as an operatic diptych, I decided the two illustrations had to complement each other as distorted reflections of the silver-tongued writer versus the lascivious devil.
This duality could be extended to the affliction de Sade deploys towards his wife while his angriest part condemns his mother-in-law in poisonous letters addressed to her.
This set was awarded in 2012 by Applied Arts Magazine in Toronto, Canada.
