This documentary series captures the idiosyncrasies of Paul Garland – my Uncle.
The brief required a series of six photographs with minimal tweaks on-screen, to push photography skills in-camera.
The series captures his way of life, his character and values.
He chooses to have no power in his home opting for traditional methods in the remote New Zealand bush. The shoot was taken in the evening to capture and emphasize "his way of life, a typical day."
A speed light and soft box were used to highlight his features, personality and nuances for the viewer to identify. The composition was considered to enhance the context of difference within the shots.
