Complete Re-design of Disneyworld.com. The creative team was led by Christian Waitzinger, Creative Director, who played the role of design/user experience lead. Christian was responsible for leading (and pushing) the cross-disciplinary creative team, and leading the clients in defining and communicating the creative direction as well as the strategic goals that would drive the design. Christian was critical in helping the client understand the project’s potential impact on the Disney and DisneyParks brands, the competitive landscape and the ever-evolving ways consumers digest media as well as book travel online. Once the creative vision was established, Christian led a cross-disciplinary team in the execution of a coherent user experience that delivered against user, editorial and commercial requirements.
Christian’s partner on the engagement was Mark Weisheit, Account Director, who was ultimately accountable for the success of the engagement, and was our escalation point person for key issues and risks related to the project.
Collaborating with Christian on creative design was Chris Szadkowski, Sr. Art Director / Graphic Design Lead, who led the development of the overall design direction. Chris explored designs that could best express the brand, meet user and business goals, and provide the optimal user experience. After the design direction (the look and feel) was set, Chris was responsible for creating a visual design system (use of typography, colors, iconography etc) and designing key templates and modules. Also instrumental in helping to develop look and feel was Art Director, Omar Puig. Omar was responsible for the creative execution of the design direction across templates, modules, and other assets.
The Art Directors worked closely with the Information Architects, Site and Media Developers to ensure a consistent user experience. Our Information Architecture Lead, Pauline Ketsios, was responsible for overall site usability and interaction design. She led the development of the site organization model, navigation design, content matrix, page templates and modules. With user experience as her focus, Pauline learned and analyzed user behavior through current behaviors on the site, leveraged best practices, and conducted user testing throughout the design process to create an ideal site organization model.
Under Pauline’s direction, Information Architect Edwin Price and other key Information Architects were responsible for the production of IA deliverables such as the final site organization model, wireframes and module specifications.
Our Site Development Lead, Alex Jain, was responsible for front-end technology. He and his team of Site and Media Developers in Los Angeles and India developed coding standards between the technical and creative teams at the code level.
Also key to the design, build and deployment was Kurt Besecker, Project Management Lead. His day-to-day leadership ensured the successful and timely delivery of our solution.
Our design team also leveraged other key team members across the Sapient network, including Dara Schoenwald, User Researcher, among others. Read Less
