These images were shot in and around Dimock Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania over a week in late August 2012. Over the last five years the area has become a centre for the Fracking industry, a new process of natural gas extraction.

Hydraulic Fracturing nicknamed Fracking, involves the drilling of deep vertical wells, which, end up running horizontally. Huge amounts of water mixed with sand and chemicals are injected into the well at extreme pressure. The shale rock below is fractured and the natural gas is released.

The portraits are of residents affected by the industry due to its heavy nature, thirst and contamination of water.
