These are the faces of men working on wooden cargo vessels hauling all sorts of trade goods from cooking oils, tyres to iMacs back-and-forth mostly between South Asia, Iran and even some parts of Africa from the Middle East.
Its back breaking work and conditions are extremely harsh and dangerous with little to no safety equipment and no life rafts for rescue. Despite the fact that in a months time an overloaded dhow capsized and the second one burned down to ashes due to a fire i was surprised about how cheerful these men were. Accidents are part of life they said.
It was never my intention to dwell upon how difficult their lives are, people all around the world work in harsh and dangerous conditions to barely make a living and these men do their bit. I just wanted to capture their fascinating faces, all those faces tell stories of their harsh life.
I can only show you the Faces, what stories your read, I leave it up to your imagination.
