As a group, the brief was to design a double page spread for the Design at Atrium magazine. We also had to individually design a front cover with ourselves as the featured designer.
For the group double page we split it into 5 sections so that we could each have a piece of our work included. We chose to have one side as just photos of our work. These fill the page and look bold and capture your attention. We then added lines to lead your eye from each of our pieces of work to a small profile of our experience of Graphic Communication. A small black and white photo links in with the 'Diary' theme used for the page. The black and white contrasts well with all the colour on the opposite page and balances the design well.
My design for the front cover was inspired by a collage of flyers and stickers on a wall outside the Atrium. I decided to create my own version with images of all my work; this showcases it in a simple, creative, and eye-catching way, and works well as a front cover. The full Design@Atrium Logo was then placed on top aligned to the right so it could be a fold-over magnetic tab from the back, revealing the whole collage when opened. I chose to have a square square format as it suited the collage style and the layout used better than a portrait or landscape cover. Read Less
